엄브렐라 프로젝트 [미소서식지 몸]은 춤이 발생하는 최소한의 조건을 탐색하는 안무 시리즈이다. <미소서식지 몸: 유언>은 ‘유언’을 춤의 미소서식지로 상정한다. 이때 유언은 공연예술의 스코어(score)와도 닮은 것으로, ‘유가 무가 되기 전, 무가 유가 되기 위해 남기는 것, 즉 한 존재가 사라지기 전 비존재가 존재가 되게 남기는 것’이다. 관객들에게 남겨진 퍼포머의 유언은 '애도의 동사(만지다, 움직이다, 말하다, 쓰다, 읽다)’와 함께 일종의 스코어(score)로서 기능하며, 원경(움직임)과 근경(mp3 사운드)을 넘나들면서 신비스럽게 작동한다. 

 

3명의 퍼포머들은 각기 다른 유언 같은 스코어, 스코어 같은 유언을 관객에게 들려준다.

1. 몸에서 떠나가는 감각에 대한 스코어/유언

2. 공연과 죽음의 관계를 들려주는 스코어/유언

3. 실제 개인의 유언으로 남겨진 스코어

 

찰나의 순간에 작품이 되었다 사라지는 이 공연은, 바닥에 누워 유언을 듣는 관객 개개인의 내면에서 발생하는 춤의 장소이자 삶과 죽음의 사건을 동시에 담아내는 유언 집행소가 되며, 이 세상에 잊혀진 것들을 소환한다.

What are the ways to give life to what is not–yet-lived? The Umbrella Project, Microhabitat Body, is a choreographic series that explores the minimum conditions for performative emergence. Microhabitat Body: Last Words propose 'last words' as a microhabitat for dance. Here, the last words resemble a ‘score,’ which is what a living being leaves for another being before disappearing. The performer’s last words left for the audience functions as a score along with the verbs of mourning - touch, move, speak, write, and read. It creates an uncanny effect by crossing the border between the experiential background (motion) and the foreground (mp3 sound).

 

The audience can experience the work with 4 different last words.

1. Score/Last words on the senses that leave the body behind,

2. Score/Last words on the moment when death leans over its face during a performance,

3. Personal last words left as a score.

 

At the culmination, the performance evokes a mental space where each audience’s internal dance occurs, asking them to lie down on the floor to listen to the will. Simultaneously capturing the events of life and death, the performance manifests the last words, summoning what is forgotten in the margins.
